I'm a Junior at Bethel University. I'm majoring in Teaching English as a Second Language. I have a college GPA of 3.77 for the classes I have taken within my major. I have a 3.46 GPA overall.
Experience
Christian: I'm a follower of Jesus, which basically shapes all other areas of my life. Whether your family is Christian or not, there are various fundamentals of the Christian faith that I believe will help me to tutor your child/student well. It is deeply rooted in me to value the wellbeing of others, which means I will not just be a tutor who shows up "to get the job done", but rather will truly devote to helping the child I am paired with to achieve their goal and gain the self-confidence that comes with that. My Choice of Major: I am going to school to learn how to teach English to individuals who have grown up speaking a different first language. However, this not only includes teaching them English, but following up with their other classroom teachers and helping to explain concepts they're having a difficult time grasping no matter what the subject matter. Because of my training in this field, I consider myself to be highly skilled in creatively finding ways to help students understand the subjects that they are finding difficulty in. Ability: It's always a strange feeling to have to boast about yourself on a resume, but I feel I should share that I have always been one to excel in school. I am particularly advanced in the areas of writing, test-taking, creative study methods, and math. I'm an Older Sibling: Growing up with three younger siblings, helping individuals truly is second nature to me. I have grown up constantly being asked questions and learning how to explain concepts to others who may be struggling in certain areas. Younglife-Capernaum: This is a ministry I've been involved with for three years which caters to teenagers with disabilities. Working with teens with disabilities has taught me great patience, as well as how to show people that just because some things don't come as naturally to them, they aren't lesser in any way, (we ALL have different strength and weaknesses!).
